Copyright Policy for RESERVE Materials
 
The library staff CAN process the following WITHOUT copyright permission:
 
  • Exams
  • Lecture Notes
  • Government Documents
  • One Chapter from a Book
  • One Short Story, Essay or Poem
  • One Copy of an Article from a Single Journal (3 articles from 1 volume and 9 articles copied overall in one semester)
  •  
    To place MULTIPLE PAPER COPIES of a journal article, chapter, short story, essay or poem on RESERVE, the following guidelines must be met:
     
  • Materials must contain a notice of copyright
  • Number of copies is reasonable in relation to the number of students enrolled
  • Effect of photocopying is not detrimental to the market of the work
  • Amount of material to be copied is reasonable in relation to the total number of materials assigned for one term of a course
  •  
    In order to comply with the copyright guidelines, library staff will require:
     
  • A form signed and dated by the faculty signifying they have read the policy and are in compliance. When the form is submitted electronically, the person's email and date submitted will serve as the signature.
  • Materials to be processed for RESERVE must contain Author, Title, and Date of Publication
  • The number of copies of an article, journal, short story, essay or poem should be reasonable in relation to the number of students enrolled in the course (1 copy for each 10 students).
  • Written permission must be provided by student authors if their papers will be placed on RESERVE
  • Written permission must be given to place more than the allowed amount on RESERVE
  • No anthologies created without written permission of the individual copyrigh owners will be processed for RESERVES
  • No photocopied material from a workbook will be placed on RESERVE
