Mission Statement
The purpose of the Management and Human Relations degree-completion program is to provide a quality educational opportunity for adult learners that encourages individuals to experience spiritual, intellectual, personal, and professional growth in an atmosphere of personal care, service and teamwork.
The Management and Human Relations (MHR) program offers an accelerated bachelor's degree completion program exclusively designed for adults 25 and over with at least 60 transferable semester credit hours. Students may complete as much as their last two years of college credit in just one year.
Since 1987, hundreds of students have achieved their dreams of earning a bachelor's degree while maintaining their jobs and personal responsibilities through the MHR program. Classes are held once a week for 50 weeks. Students learn business and management skills, interpersonal communications and psychology while enhancing their written and verbal communication skills.
Program Features
Students complete their programs in groups of no more than 20 students, traveling through the curriculum together as a cohesive unit. Classes are offered on either Monday, Tuesday or Thursday evening from 6-10 pm or Saturday morning from 8:30-12 p.m. Once a student has chosen a group, he or she will attend class on the same evening throughout the entire program.
Most students elect to earn a portion of their credit (up to 34 hours) through the assessment of prior learning. In this manner, a student may document previous learning from jobs, training, volunteer work, and personal and family situations. The documentation process is taught as a part of one of the classes and completed documentation is evaluated by MidAmerica faculty for potential credit. Many students earn a significant part of their credit from prior learning, thus allowing them to accelerate the process of earning the degree.
