Football Ranks 12th in Preseason Poll

In the first poll of the season, the MidAmerica Pioneer football team has been ranked 12th in the country. After a season in which the Pioneers won 9 games and made the playoffs, MNU is looking to improve. The HAAC was well-represented in the national poll, with Missouri Valley ranked 3rd, and Lindenwood 9th.

Kevin Steele, Director of Athletics at California Baptist University, will become MidAmerica Nazarene University's seventh Director of Athletics August 1. Jason Drummond, Vice President for University Advancement, announced the hiring Monday. Steele will succeed Ron Hill, who retires June 30 after serving in that role for 12 years.

Baseball Signs Iowa Right Hander

The MidAmerica Nazarene University baseball program is excited to announce the signing of Ben Alison, a righthanded pitcher/infielder from Ankeny High School in Ankeny, Iowa, for the fall of 2008. Alison helped lead Ankeny High to a quarterfinal finish in baseball last summer as a junior and to the state championship game last fall in football.

Softball's Lear Named All Conference & All Region

A .392 batting average with 12 doubles, 3 triples, 3 home runs, 28 RBI, and 11 steals earned Margo Lear All-HAAC and All-Region V honors this season. The freshman shortstop from Muscatine, IA was 3rd in the conference in hitting, 6th in slugging percentage, 9th in runs per game, 7th in hits per game, 5th in doubles, and 2nd in triples.

Baseball's Beghtol & Gill All Conference

Catcher Nick Beghtol and outfielder Jake Gill were honored with HAAC All Conference selections this week. Beghtol, a senior from Loveland, CO, received 1st-team honors as he hit .393 with 9 homers, 12 doubles, and 36 RBI in 37 games. His on base percentage was .455 and he slugged .741. Beghtol was also named to the All Region V Team.

Baseball Signs Infielder

MidAmerica Nazarene University is excited to announce the signing of Kevin Liddle, a shortstop/pitcher from Mountain View High School in Loveland, Colorado.  As a junior last year, Kevin hit .354 with an on base percentage of .523 and 14 stolen bases.  An outstanding baserunner, Kevin is expected to break Mountain View's school record...
Trent Thompson Named HAAC Player of the Week

Senior second baseman Trent Thompson's .533 average for the week ending 4/26 was enough to receive HAAC Player of the Week. The Nevada, MO native went 8-16 with 4 runs, one triple, one homer, five RBI, and two steals as the Pioneers went 3-2.
Pioneer Weight Lifting Finishes Third!

The Pioneer Weightlifting Team finished in 3rd place at the 2008 Collegiate Nationals Weightlifting meet!  They were just shy of beating the Air Force Academy (2nd) and Louisiana State University (Shreveport) (1st).  The results of the meet are as follows:
