The MidAmerica Nazarene University baseball program is excited to announce the signing of Ben Alison, a righthanded pitcher/infielder from Ankeny High School in Ankeny, Iowa, for the fall of 2008. Alison helped lead Ankeny High to a quarterfinal finish in baseball last summer as a junior and to the state championship game last fall in football.
As a sophomore, Alison led the team with a 6-3 record and followed that up with a 5-0 mark last summer as a junior. He earned All-Conference and All-District recognition both years as well.
"Ben has a lot of potential, both on the mound and at the plate," says head coach Ryan Thompson. "We project him as a frontline starter on the mound, and he has the tools to develop into an impact hitter for us as well. He's a physical presence and an outstanding competitor. Ben is a very good student with outstanding character and the leadership ability to make a major impact on this program. He is the right type of young man for our program, and we are excited to have the opportunity to add him to our baseball family."
