In only their 2nd home game of the year, the MNU Men's Soccer team improved their record to 7-4 with a 4-1 defeat of Dana College (NE). Dana falls to 9-2-1 on the year. The Pioneers got on the board with a goal by Alec Lemmon, assisted by Jon Lemmon and Coady Andrews at the 13:44 mark of the first half. MNU extended their lead with a goal by David Gonzalez, assisted by Jon Lemmon at the 18:57 mark. Jon then scored an unassisted goal at the 31:40 mark to make the score 3-0. Dana scored on a penalty kick just 4 minutes later to make it 3-1 where it stood at halftime. MNU then extended their lead to 4-1 at the 57:18 mark with a very nice goal by Lucas Rodriguez, assisted by Alec Lemmon.
For the game, MNU outshot Dana 20-13; with SOG being 10-6. Corner kicks were 7-6 in MNU's favor. Dana's goalkeepers were credited with 6 saves. Ryan Clemens and Jim Mace combined for 5 saves for MNU.
"This was a good game for us today," said Coach Wardlaw. "With this being a non-conference game it gave us a chance to work on some things that we need to improve upon. The offense looked sharp and we are making positive steps towards improving our defense."
