The MNU women's soccer team hosted Missouri Valley College on Saturday and came away with a 2-0 victory. The first half of the game was a battle in the mid field. Each team had several good chance to score but couldn't find the net. In the second half MNU settled down and played their game. Kate Williams opened up the scoring in the 58th minute of the game. MNU was pressing and won a corner kick. Alyssa Howard crossed the ball right to Kate and she able to finish for the game's first goal. MNU stepped up the pressure in the second half and dominated MO Valley. Missouri Valley had 0 shots on goal and were never dangerous. In the 76th minute freshman Emily Bean scored MNU's 2nd goal. Alyssa Howard dribbled around several MO Valley players and crossed another beautiful ball into the box, where Emily found the ball at her feet. Kim Nigh had 4 saves on the day.
"This was a great game and it showed our team's maturity," said Coach Orton. "We were very patient and the goals came. I was really proud of the way the girls played today!"
MNU's next game is October 18th, which is homecoming weekend. Pioneers take on Culver-Stockton at 1pm.
