The women's cross country team spent this past weekend's fall break in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. On Friday, they worked with Hands On Disaster Relief by helping all day with cleanup from the flooding that took place this summer in Iowa.

On Saturday, the team competed in a meet hosted by Coe College in Cedar Rapids. Racing their first 6K in over 6 years (they usually race 5K), they finished third and were led by Vanessa Weltmer (6th), Irene Mitei (9th), and Michelle Phillips (10th). The University of Northern Iowa (an NCAA Division I school) won the meet. Coach Mark Brown was pleased with MNU's performance, especially considering the previuos day's hard work with flood cleanup and considering the challenging hills on the cross country course.

Team members are: Seniors Linah Chelagat and Vanessa Weltmer; Juniors Becca Mathews, Michelle Phillips, Amy Searcy and Sarah Young; Sophomores Adrienne Black, Katie Sooter and Megan Tush; and Freshman Monica Holmes, Ashley Mackey and Irene Mitei.
