Softball Coaching Staff

Steve Babinski
Head Coach

Coach Babinski begins his 5th year at MidAmerica Nazarene University as the Head Softball Coach. In his four years, Coach Babinski has led the Lady Pioneers to 3 trips to the Region V Tournament in Springfield, Missouri. In addition to the Regional appearances, his '05-'06 and '06-'07 teams finished second in one of the toughest softball conferences in the NAIA, the Heart of America Conference. Before Coach Babinski's arrival the MidAmerica softball program has only made 2 trips to the Region V tournament and its best finish was one 2nd place conference finish.  Under Coach Babinski's leadership his team has set many individual and team season records including Wins (40), Winning Percentage (.769), Batting Average (.337), Slugging Percentage (.513), On-Base Percentage (.402), Hit-By-Pitches (26), Hits (470), Total Bases (715), Stolen Bases (150), Runs (349), RBI's (295), Doubles (102), and Homeruns (33). He has also led them to national top-25 rankings on two separate occasions. Since Babinski began as Head Coach in the fall of 2004, the Pioneers have been 106-83 and 47-33 in the HAAC.  This year will mark a new era in NAIA as all the Regions have been eliminated and the HAAC will send the winner of their postseason playoffs to the National tournament.  MidAmerica has never made the trip to Nationals held in Decatur, Alabama but hopes to make the road trip this spring.

Coach Babinski comes to MidAmerica after two seasons as an assistant coach at NCAA D-I Bowling Green State University (OH). His final year at Bowling Green, they finished 34-30 and advanced to the NCAA Division I Regional Tournament by winning the conference tournament title. Prior to his time at Bowling Green, Coach Babinski spent one season as an assistant coach at Grace College in Winona Lake, Indiana. Coach Babinski played baseball at Grace College where he set numerous single season and career records. He graduated in 2000 with a degree in Youth Ministry. He has been married to Rachel for 7 and a half years and they have a 4 and a half year old girl named Corianna and a 6 month old named Alizzia.

Kim Sitler
Assistant Coach

Coach Sitler has been an amazing asset to the Lady Pioneers. She starts her fourth year as assistant under Coach Babinski. "Coach Kim has been vital to the softball program," says Babinski, "I can honestly say we would not have been as strong of a team, setting records and advancing to Regionals these last few years if it wasn't for her!" Coach Kim coaches the battery as she oversees both pitchers and catchers. In the spring of 2005, she finished her playing career after transferring from Washburn University. She was a standout catcher who turned the heads of all of her opponents. She was named 1st team All Conference and 1st team All Region as catcher. She was a standout as a player and is a standout as a coach. She has done an amazing job thus far and will continue to be a main reason for the Pioneers success. Kim is married to Jake and has a 2-year old son named Caleb.

Kevin Juber
Assistant Coach

Coach Juber continues to show why he is a vital part of the Pioneer makeup. Kevin was a 2005 graduate of MidAmerica who was introduced to college softball in the spring of 2005 as he was Coach Babinski's Undergrad Assistant. He spent the 2006 year in Iowa before coming back to the staff in 2006-07 for his first full year of coaching. He stayed on last year and will be looked at this year to focus is on the offense as he works with the hitters. He also is a key recruiting, helping us find the absolute best fits for our program.

Tracy Hardee
Graduate Assistant

Coach Hardee is beginning her 2nd year as the graduate assistant for Coach Babinski. She is a MidAmerica graduate and was a standout basketball player capturing the title of NAIA All-American.  She will continue to help run the conditioning and serve as academic and spiritual mentor for the softball program.
