Nearly 70 exhibitors to participate in Community Fair – plan to attend!
Thursday, August 30, 5-8 p.m. on the Campus Green (between Campus Center and Harvest Prayer)
The purpose of the Community Fair is to allow local businesses, as well as Nazarene churches, student organizations and clubs, to make MNU students and employees aware of their products and services. MNU's second annual Community Fair has been planned to coincide with Welcome Week at MidAmerica. In addition to the Fair, the evening meal will be served outdoors followed by an outdoor concert sponsored by ASG.
On-campus groups or offices who want to have a booth should contact the Alumni Office no later than Thursday, August 23. Simply call ext. 3275 to register.
We hope this will be a fun and festive event again this year. We would love to have more MNU employees and families attend, so make plans to come!
Pioneer football team to compete in VSN First Down Classic this weekend
Saturday, August 25, 7 p.m., Platte City, Missouri
MNU’s football program has the exciting honor of competing in the first annual Victory Sports Network First Down Classic this Saturday, August 25, at 7 p.m., at Pirate Stadium in Platte City, Missouri. The Pioneers will kick off their season as they play host to the Cougars of Azusa Pacific University.
The game promises to be full of excitement as VSN has ranked the Pioneers and Cougars 15th and 23rd respectively in the NAIA Preseason Top 25. To add to the excitement, Pioneer head coach Jed Stugart is a 1994 graduate of APU and will be facing his former team for the first time.
This will be only the second meeting between the two teams. The first came in the 2000 NAIA Championship Series in which MNU was victorious by a score of 27-21 in the first round of postseason play.
We encourage you to make the trip and support the Pioneers as they look to get their season off to a great start against a very talented program. Mark your calendar, you won’t want to miss this!
More information on this game and ticket information can be found by visiting the Victory Sports Network website at www.victorysportsnetwork.com. Note: advanced tickets are no longer available for purchase, but they will be available at the game. The cost is $10 for adults, $8 for students (including kids 6 and up, and college students with ID), and children 5 and under are free. MNU passes are not valid at this event.
A new little Pioneer has arrived!
Congratulations to Jeremy Menning (webmaster) and his wife, Melissa, on the safe arrival this morning of Paul Forrest Menning at 5:35 a.m. He weighted 7 lbs., 12.7 ounces, and he is 20 inches long. We’re guessing Grandpa and Grandma – a.k.a. Ron and Karen McClellan (Fine Arts) – are grinning ear to ear today.
University Advancement open house tomorrow
Just a reminder: the Office of University Advancement will host an open house on Tuesday, August 21, from 9 to 11 a.m. to celebrate the beginning of a new academic year and to see the results of our team building exercise (read redecorating efforts). A tantalizing buffet of baked goods and a chocolate fountain, courtesy of the University Advancement staff, will be yours to enjoy if you drop in our office for this event.
“Searching” for a great cause: MNU
What if MidAmerica Nazarene University earned a penny every time you searched the Internet? Well, now we can!
GoodSearch.com is a new search engine that donates half its revenue, about a penny per search, to the charities its users designate. You use it just as you would any search engine, and it's powered by Yahoo!, so you get great results.
Just go to www.goodsearch.com and be sure to enter MidAmerica Nazarene University as the charity you want to support. Just 500 of us searching four times a day will raise about $7,300 in a year for our Annual Fund without anyone spending a dime! And, be sure to spread the word! Go to www.goodsearch.com.
The Monday Report is an electronic news update about people and events at MidAmerica Nazarene University. It is distributed weekly to faculty and staff. Submissions may be sent to April Hansen, public information director, Lunn Hall, ext 3606, or e-mailed to pubinfoserv@mnu.edu. The deadline for inclusion is 10 a.m. on the Friday prior to publication.
