Admission
The requirements for admission to Graduate Studies in Education Master of Education with emphasis in Professional Teaching and Technology-Enhcaced Teaching degree programs include:
- Completed application and fee ($75 non-refundable)
- Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university
- Official transcript from the baccalaureate degree-granting institution
- Official transcripts of all graduate coursework
- Valid teaching certificate
- Minimum combined G.P.A. of 2.8 on a 4.0 scale
- Recommendation from applicant's building administrator or equivalent
- Passing score on an MNU Technology Survey
Please respond to 3 statements:
- Please state your reason(s) for seeking admission to MNU’s graduate programs for teachers.
- Our graduate programs are concerned with the professional development of teachers. Describe ways in which you would like to develop as a professional teacher.
- The Education Division’s motto is Teacher Leaders Serving Learning Communities and all programs strive to develop teacher leaders. Describe your concept of a teacher leader and whether or not you find this concept challenging.
- As a Christian university, our graduate program contains a “core” of three courses which address the mission and values of MNU. If you have made a commitment to the Christian faith, please provide a few highlights of your faith journey.
- One of the degree programs focus is Teaching in Diverse, Global Communities. Describe how this might apply to your teaching experience.
Once all necessary materials have been submitted, candidate’s files will be reviewed and approved by an education committee.
Conditional Admission
An individual who does not meet regular admission requirements, but who desires to pursue work leading to a Master of Education degree at MidAmerica Nazarene University, may be permitted to enroll conditionally in a limited number of graduate courses. Regular status may be gained after removal of deficiencies and/or completion of acceptable work at MidAmerica Nazarene University of not fewer than six semester hours of graduate study.
